Below are the requirements to be a member of the Palo Fire Department.
Requirements for membership are:
- Must be 18 years old
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to regularly attend training
- Live within reasonable distance from the Palo Fire Station
- A clear background check
- A clear physical and mental evaluation
- Must be willing to obtain Fire Fighter 1 certification or EMT within a year of acceptance
- Must be willing to attend fire and EMS calls
What the Palo Fire Department offers members:
- Numerous training classes at no expense to the member
- State of the art firefighting and safety equipment
- Gratification of helping others within the community
Business meeting is held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6pm.
Medical training is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6pm.
Fire training is held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm.
Those wishing to join the department must present themselves to the Chief and membership at a meeting prior to being accepted onto the department.
Firefighter 1 training is nearly 100 hours of classroom and hands on fire experience. Members must also pass a national firefighter 1 test.
EMT is a 200 hour course for those wishing to become medical providers. EMT are certified by passing both practical and cognitive exams hosted by the NREMT.
